Default Strange Screen corruption

Played for couple of years, no probs.
Now I keep getting the entire screen changing to an obscure pattern (a bit like a green screen with some small black lines in it) this seems to happen when I have minimised or closed the window, but I also had it when it went from and end of mission to a cut scene!
Unable to restore stable conditions, end up having to reboot
Changes:
New Samsung 22" Syncmaster monitor 1680x1050 60 Hertz.
Using DVI output instead of Analogue. 7600GT

2GB ram
Core2duo @3.0Ghz

Any ideas?
Thanks

You sould post a screenshot of what happens to you too. It will help. Try reverting back ot your old monitor if oyu still have it. It will help to rule out faulty hardware, at least where your GPU is ocncerned.

I'm guessing you are overclocked since C2Ds haven't been out in 3.0 GHz for a couple years. If so, try putting your settings back to stock. It may be an overheating issue in one component or other.

If your new syncmaster also has analog input, try using your old monitor cable with an analog signal to the new monitor.

Also, check that the video card is properly seated in the slot - take it out and put it back in. It could also be bad RAM on the video card.

Also, you might want to check that your PSU is strong enough to carry an OC'ed processor and the new Gcard.
